Language Switcher, run applications in another language!

Posted by Venu Thomas on Sep 23, 2009 in Software

LanguageSwitcher

Language Switcher is an application that allows you to start any application that we installed in the languages in which it is available. From the very Language Switcher will allow us to choose a language and run the application. If the application is not in the Applications folder, you can choose it with File, Add from the menu. We can also indicate a Language Switcher always run the application in the chosen language.

Another interesting option is to boot multiple applications at once.

Language Switcher is free (the author admits donations) and is optimized for Snow Leopard.

Snippet to keep your bits of code in order

Posted by Venu Thomas on Sep 2, 2009 in Software

Video: Snippet App

I’m going to talk about a very useful application for developers called Snippet of Fuel Collective.

This is a simple application that loads into the menu bar and is always accessible without deal site on the screen and not distract from our main business: sting code.

With a single keystroke, there appears a simple form with which we can find the piece of code you want and paste it directly into our IDE. It can even sync with our own Mobile me to keep our pieces of code in the Apple cloud.

It costs about $ 12.95 and right now I am using for my projects very personal for typical SQL statements that use to validate the operations of my programs, for example.

[Updates] Adium, Mercury Messenger and Transmission

Posted by Venu Thomas on Aug 25, 2009 in Software

Like every week, come prepared to discuss some of the most important software updates that have occurred in recent days. This has been a productive week because there has been a lot of upgrades both from Apple, as he usually does, as third party applications.

Throughout the week we talked about the updated iPhoto to version 8 and Safari is updated to 4.03 version

In the extended entry will talk about the three third party applications chosen for this week: Adium, Mercury Messenger and Transmission. You’ll also see a small list of applications that we found interesting to mention that have been updated in the last seven days.

Adium (1.3.6)

Perhaps one of the most popular applications for Mac and cataloged essential by many. It is a messenger Multiplatform Multiprotocol able to connect to many networks (MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, GMail, Facebook, etc.). with a very nice interface and plenty of configuration, it lacks any interesting option as the possibility of videoconferencing networks that support to make it the perfect messaging application. One of the novelties of this version is the solution of some problems that occurred when attempting to connect to the MSN network. The free application can be downloaded from its official website. There is also a development version (1.4b9 now) very stable, at least in my case, disponible para la descarga

Mercury Messenger (1.9.5)

We Adium Mercury Messenger, a messaging client made in Java for the MSN network, also free. It is less known and far less visually spectacular, but it has many configuration options. Almost all options have the MSN Messenger (Windows Live Messenger) original of Windows, the Mac is still quite green, as are good and fast file transfer management and especially support for sending and receiving video. On the web we found this new version for download and the version 2.0RC1, described as unstable, to see what awaits us in future versions.

Transmission (1.74 )

| Upgrade to 1.74 | Transmission is one of the most popular BitTorrent clients for Mac. It’s my personal choice because of the configuration possibilities that is without sacrificing simplicity, besides having a clear and clean interface, encryption and DHT support, and does not consume many system resources. In this new version 1.74, as always, correct faults carried over from previous versions, improving the overall stability of the application, plus many other new features. The application is available for download through a recently renewed official website. It’s free.

Besides these applications, others perhaps not so well known or of which we have discussed above have been updated, here’s the list:

That’s all for now. Is there any update interesting that we have overlooked? Send us your comments and try to talk about the applications that you seem more interesting in the future.

The 6 applications across web developer should have

Posted by Venu Thomas on Aug 17, 2009 in Software

AppsMany programmers are dedicated to the design and/or web development. There are many applications out there that can help us to perform our work to a greater or lesser extent.

Take several years after this, I am going to talk about the tools I like. I know this is something very personal and that what I say here is not a universal truth, everyone should find the application you are most satisfied and the most convenient location.

  • Pixelmator: How I do not have enough money to catch the almighty Photoshop, I prefer this great photo editing application that has nothing to envy (only vector drawing). But to create buttons and money is going very well. It costs $ 59
  • Sequel Pro: Before it used CocoaSQL but this was discontinued and became part of, for me, the better manager mySQL databases for the Mac is free but donations accepted.
  • Textmate: The definitive text editor for Mac that much know already. It has tinted according to the source programming language you want, supports plugins and support for color themes. It costs € 48.75
  • CSSEdit: While taking Textmate is optional, it is of great help make the style sheets from our website with this application because it has a graphical interface where you can build the css rule. ¿Price? € 29.95
  • Cyberduck: Many defenders Transmit FTP client for excellence, but I will stay with Cyberduck which has many characteristics of transmitting and it’s free
  • Things: The best GTD manager for Mac I know. It seems it was designed by Apple itself. Simple, fast and efficient, has become an extension of mine What would my projects without this tool needs to be done? Cost $ 49.95

eBay Apps in iPhone with Push notifications

Posted by Venu Thomas on Aug 17, 2009 in Iphone

eBayiPhone02_170809

A few days the implementation of eBay for our iPhone was updated to version 1.4.0, with a handful of interesting news and that set the tone for what may be the applications that are to come. The main feature that we are push notifications to alert us when someone bid higher than ours, or when a product is nearing the end of one of the auctions that we are following, and may set the time before we want to be notified .

Another development, also very interesting is the possibility of making payments through PayPal from the application itself, so that we can say that it is possible to make the whole process of buying on eBay just to this application from our iPhone.

The official list of characteristics of the application is:

  • Optimized for iPhone OS 3.0
  • Support payments through PayPal integrated
  • Push notifications for outbid and auctions that we are following.
  • Opinions on a recent seller
  • Search items
  • Search alerts

In this way, eBay has become a mobile application that has the benefit from the Push Notifications, a long-awaited by many, but currently little exploited by developers. The application is available for download (link opens iTunes), is 1.5MB and is free.

Safari is updated to version 4.03

Posted by Venu Thomas on Aug 16, 2009 in Software

apple-safari

Apple has introduced in the past few days a new update of its excellent Web browser: Safari. Do not bring any supernovedad nor anything that is extremely new, but we know that Apple does not fall asleep with the great competition that exists in the industry.

Among the improvements, I would emphasize that continue to improve support for the HTML5 and specifically improve the performance of the label , a big step towards standardizing the web.

As always, available via the Software Update to our Mac

Posted by Venu Thomas on Aug 5, 2009 in Mac, Software

Bodega_050809

Bodega is an application that meets a wide range of applications for the Mac style App Store. A very good idea for many of us wonder why Apple have not done.

Bodega but is not limited to list all the applications available for Mac in its database, we can safely buy applications that are of payment, contact us for updates (even if the applications downloaded from the winery), revising views of other users, and store securely purchased serials such applications and a simple navigation menu and search by category.

A good application, interesting and you only need the support of users and developers can write applications for free, and that Apple does not take its own application store for Mac

Download | Bodega requires Mac OS X 10.5 or higher
